This is a lovely little oak library longcase clock which is in superb condition and is exceptionally detailed. The clock is in perfect working order having recently been professionally cleaned and serviced. This clock is absolutely perfect for anyone looking for a clock of small proportions. The patina of this clock is superb.
If we start with the hood, this has a lovely shaped pediment. The hood door is very nicely surrounded in shaped moulding and has a pretty little brass catch. The door is flanked by chamfered reeded side which sets the hood off beautifully. It is then finished off with three brass finials.
If we then move down to the trunk it has a lovely shaped door which has a lovely shaped escutcheon. The door is also complete with it's lock and key which is fully working. The door is flanked by quarter reeded columns.
The base has a shape applied panel and is raised on lovely little ogee bracket feet.
The dial with makers name of R. Pegg, Ashby, is a lovely circular dial which is set out in both Roman and Arabic numerals and has lovely decorative markings between the quarter hours. The dial also has a subsidiary second dial and a date aperture nicely edged in gold leaf
