Description:
Antique Longcase / Grandfather Clock by John Lloyd, Brecon
This is a lovely little oak and mahogany longcase clock which is exceptionally detailed. This clock is absolutely perfect for anyone looking for a clock of small proportions.
If we start with the hood, this has swan necks which have lovely brass pateras. Pretty fluted columns which terminate in brass capitals flank the hood door. The door also has a pretty little brass knob. Above the hood door is nicely cross banded in mahogany.
If we then move down to the trunk it has a lovely shaped door which has a lovely shaped and patterned escutcheon.
Finally the base is raised on lovely little bracket feet.
The dial with maker’s name of Jno Lloyd, Brecon, has the four corners adorned with beautiful delicate flowers which have been created in superb colours. The arch has a beautifully painted country scene.
John Lloyd is listed in 'Wales Clocks and Clockmakers by William Linnard':
