Description: Peter Ever, Chester: This is superb oak and mahogany cross-banded long case clock. It has an eight-day movement on an arch painted face. The hood has swan necks with arched moulded cornice and super brass Rosetta pateras. It is then finished off very nicely with three brass finials. Fluted columns, which terminate in brass capitals, flank the hood door. To the rear of the hood are straight back slats. Moving down to the trunk, the full-length door is beautifully shaped and cross-banded in mahogany it also has a lovely little brass escutcheon to the keyhole. The door is flanked by quarter-fluted columns, and is very nicely cross-banded in mahogany. The base is also nicely cross-banded in mahogany and raised on ogee bracket feet. The eight-day movement with makers name of Peter Evers, Chester, is rack striking and chimes out the hours on a single bell. It also has an arched painted face, subsidiary second dial and date aperture. The four corners are beautifully adorned with flowers which have been very finely painted whilst the arch has a cartouche with the makers name ‘Peter Evers, Chester’ inside.
